Story
Hidden deep in the pockets just outside of the Oort's city limits, there lies a seemingly centuries-old, forgotten settlement. No living soul, Celestial or otherwise, would dare to step foot there - anyone with a functioning Somastone would quickly be choked by the darkness lingering in the atmosphere.
Unbeknownst to the residents of the Oort, their city was not a brand-new marvel of technology and science as they'd been led to believe. Rather, it was built upon the graveyard of failed experiments, horrific accidents, and curses deeply rooted in the fabric of the Cosmos. Thus, it remains abandoned, without a soul to remember it ever existed. That is, until the Solar Unit finds a curious trail of rubble, in the midst of searching for a Star Shard with a resounding energy.
Feeling a deep pit in their Somastones, the cadets hesitatingly stare upon the ruins. The Luminous flowing through their bodies overwhelmed them all with the instinct to turn away and never look back, even as they scramble and try to shake off the intense feelings of dread. They look to Earth and Mars, the only two whose Luminous is not fully developed and will not constrict them the same way it does the others.
Though the site is covered with the dust of decaying Star Shards, there are still ephemera and lost collections buried under the rubble. As they enter and quietly shuffle through crumbled walls, Tiu takes over front from Mars and begins to search for anything - anything that pieces together the forgotten stories of those who came before the Oort. He dusts off an abandoned cassette tape, musing to Earth, "I doubt this thing even works. Maybe I'll take it home and see if I can fix it." To his surprise, the on-switch clicks and the cassette begins to softly rumble in his hands. "...No choice but to hear whatever it is they have to say, I guess," Earth replied.
Tiu puts the cassette by his ear, and begins to realize this is a story all too familiar to him.
That shadowy figure - the Ringmaster - had etched his existence into the minds of the superstitious, as if he was just a myth from old-time folklore. And yet, this wasn't just a legend passed down as a cautionary tale through the generations. There was so much more to the story than Tiu once believed. He listened on with a horrified face, as a drifter recited their recollection of the man who could harness the consuming void of a singularity.

Other notes
helloooo friends :D I told you I'd have a use for this blog eventually!!!
this is, surprisingly, my first time ever making a full song arrangement based around SIML. I've always wanted to showcase SIML in a visual format AND present new stories with my remixes/covers, but... I just didn't have the idea to combine the two until recent years. and then I only just now got around to actually putting it all together in one piece, lol. thiiiis is also the first time I've really shown off the Ringmaster, too. well, I know a few of you out there already know his ... true(?) identity, but if you can't put the pieces together: consider looking into the heart of the Milky Way Galaxy! 💖🌞
for folks who may not be familiar with Tiu yet: Mars is the host of an OSDD-1b system! Tiu is the system's caretaker, but he also loves mysteries and playing detective, which makes him rather adept at finding things that seem out of place.
I've been brainstorming a LOT this past year about the direction I want to take SIML, and I'm thinking of making an anthology of different bite-sized stories like I've presented here. I've always lowkey been a perfectionist about how I want my stories and work to be presented, but... that led to two instances of me putting together a very unfinished comic, and not really telling the stories I WANT to tell. but with bite-sized stories, I have a LOT more freedom with each story and how I present the worldbuilding - and that is something I am VERY excited to experiment with!!!
I've also had a weird lowkey hyperfixation on black holes the past few months, in part because I have been thinking a LOT about how they play into SIML's lore. black holes, surprisingly, have a LOT of important roles in keeping the Universe together! right now, my idea is that black holes are also spacetime anomalies in the Caelecosm like they are over here, but are revered as sacred spots. being the remnants of powerful Celestials, it's believed that the soul of the Celestial guards the black hole, not unlike the roles 'Kami' serve in Shinto - and thus, it brings balance & protection to the rest of the galaxy.
however, it's... generally agreed upon that you shouldn't directly interact with one. they're cool as hell and serve an important purpose, but they're also WILDLY dangerous for living beings to even tread near. AND who in their right mind wants to be spaghettified?!?!
thank you for reading all this rambling, it truly means a lot that someone out there is reading about my creative process, and I hope I was able to give you some inspiration too :)
